Didn’t quite connect with this story bc it drops you right into the middle of the bike race then proceeds to tell the story leading up to it. Very slice of life stuff. Since I checked it out at Hoopla I may give it another spin now that I know how it plays out. Hoopla is pretty great for anime since it’s a SD presentation.
Mad House who produced the anime really has nailed the Studio Ghibli aesthetic, which had me smirking given all the recent controversy surrounding the Ghibli A.I. bullshit. Until the end credits I thought this might be a Ghibli production only to learn it is by one of the Ghibli art directors, Kitaro Kosaka, who worked on Princess Mononoke, which I watched earlier this evening!
