Mashup of Attack on Titan (defense force of young people fighting giant monsters), Pacific Rim (Kaiju invading earth), My Hero Academia (zero to hero lead character; general rivalry between recruits) and a few other things. Those are just the ones that stand out during the viewing.
That said, this movie based in the tv series does the thing many don’t: tell a coherent story that doesn’t require viewing the tv series to understand and also make me wanna watch the tv series (unlike Demon Slayer).
So, I really enjoyed this which balances the action and humor really well with cool characters. I don’t understand why this film has a 10 percent at TMDb but the series has an 86 percent. Like wtf people.
