My 600th movie logged in 2025! Ofc two hundred and change are short films but kinda wild to hit 600 under four months into the year. lol
Sandra Ng at the height of powers. She starred in 16 movies and 2 tv series that were released in 1992 including this Lunar New Year film. This is the first of eight in the series which had me wondering why they didn’t make one for every year.
The ensemble for the original film is pretty good but Stephen Chow has a terrible role even if he and Maggie Cheung are great together (she’s still terrific). But all his stuff is too slapsticky as usual. Leslie Cheung is really good yet I get sad whenever I see him in these early films.
This is the third AWEW movie I’ve seen of the eight. Decided to watch all of them in order even tho they aren’t connected other than the title.
