The Midnight Parasites (1972)

Directed by Youji Kuri

Animation | Fantasy | Short

Overview

A night when parasites of various green forms devour humans. A cruel food chain that never ceases, and an eternal repetition of life and death. A grotesque and strange parable drawn by Yoji Kuri. Isao Tomita’s synthesizer music echoes quietly and eerily.

Viewing Notes

Not really an experimental short film. More weird fantasy, cartoonish. There is poop eating and creatures that eat humans then poop them out. Reminds me of the weird cartoon illustration I gravitated towards as a child (ex. Plop comic books) and something specific but I cannot recall in my old age. Perhaps it will come to me in time.

Anyways, I love this and could watch a longer cut of these weird creatures eating humanoid beings.
