I’ve wanted to see this ever since it was released in theaters but sadly didn’t make it to my theater. This weekend I learned that Ma Dong-seok aka Don Lee is in this movie! He’s one of the play-by-play announcers in the booth at the stadium. So he gets lots of lines providing commentary during the games.
I like a lot about this movie and love watching a gorilla knocking balls out of the park. But the exploitation aspect of the story is gross, even for fictional animals. None of that is fun or funny.
The digital FX are pretty good esp the compositing. Easy to buy into the relationship with girl and her ape. The camera work around the baseball field is excellent. I’d love to watch a baseball movie filmed this way (that isn’t fantasy based). That was my favorite thing because it shows how great the game is.
