Viewing Notes
I knew my boy Hwang Jung-min was in this but also knew this wasn’t a vehicle for him, which is confirmed in the opening sequence lol
Props for having an older actress as the lead and badass assassin everyone wants to be. Jeon Do-yeon is great in Beasts Clawing at Straws so it was cool to see her in a meaty role. Most of the action is pretty good, and I like that it offers a slight twist on the secret assassin organization.
Hate to say it but this story probably would’ve been a better television show. They cram a lot into this 137 minute movie. Feels like there was a longer movie and pieces are missing from this final cut. A third of what is presented isn’t even necessary for the main story.
Then there’s some annoying bits. Maybe it’s a culture thing but Boksoon’s awful reaction to her daughter coming out was some bullshit. Probably the thing that irritated me the most especially given the situation.
Sol Kyung-gu proves once again that he’s a chameleon. I’ve seen him in five movies this year and each role is so different, particularly his appearance. I almost didn’t recognize him in this movie. And a ton of respect for a dude my age still kicking ass in this movie.
Anyways I mostly like the movie just has a few things that hold it back from being really good. And it could’ve been really good.
