Viewing Notes

Was my oldest logged Tsui Hark film, back when I did my Muscles from Brussels project. Picked up the BD during the recent 88 Films sale since I only had it on DVD. It was a good revisit since I only recalled a few things, like the pedicab race and Paul Sorvino. It’s like Hark binge watched Raimi’s movies right before this. So many zooms and Extreme Close-ups. It’s like too much Raimi. haha

Forgot how explosion-y this is! and Wow Jean Claude is very obviously on drugs during most of his scenes. Ofc I like him a lot in this. The opposite for Rob Schneider, who I’ve disliked even before his maga turn.

Interesting movie, too, because it captures the hand-off in a different way, which is neat to see.

Update: just read my notes from 2013 and yeah I was totally wrong in my assessment back then. Hahahahaha
I love when that happens!

Next up is DOUBLE TEAM which I also got in the 88 sale. Can’t wait to see how that goes and read my previous notes. lol
