Finally took the plunge… crossed off what is oft considered one the best Troma films (from ranking lists). I’m here to say that in house Troma productions (most directed by the man himself Lloyd Kaufman) are *not* my cup of tea.
I’m glad Troma has its fans and that people enjoy these movies (heck, Noah rated this a 7/10). They are just not for me.
The positives on this one: Debbie Rochon gets a fairly meaty role until her character disappears for most of the second half. Lots of bit parts for folks that got their start at Troma (Joe Lynch, Eli Roth, Tiffany Shepis, etc). Lemmy of course. And a plot that loosely resembles FADE TO BLACK, and a few other films. ofc the NYC skyline is nice.
Negatives: pretty much everything else, the “Troma-brand” of humor, it’s two freaking hours long for no good reason. Ron Jeremy.
