Viewing Notes

Sunday afternoon matinee: surprised I haven’t seen this proto-krimi featuring Bela Lugosi. Stumbled on this one after viewing the krimi / Mabuse films this weekend, since this was adapted from a Wallace story. It plays very much like the krimi titles 3 decades later.

Alfred Vohrer did the German krimi adaptation in 1961 entitled “Dead Eyes of London” which I watched almost exactly 1 year ago.

Lugosi is Dr. Orloff and had me wondering if Jess Franco used this story for his Dr. Orlof movies which a similar premise yet slightly different. Wouldn’t surprise me if he did.
