Overview

Seven years after the death of his wife, widower Shigeharu seeks advice on how to find a new wife from a colleague. Taking advantage of their position as a film company, they stage an audition. Interviewing a series of women, Shigeharu is enchanted by the quiet Asami. But soon things take a twisted turn as Asami isn’t what she seems to be.

Read about this in the Chicago Reader and it sounded like my kind of movie. So I cruised down to Landmark Century Cinema and sat in the last row. Starts out rather innocuous but there is a moment in the movie when things change. And I so love that moment. People actually left the theater after that happened! Then more filed out as the intensity grew. And I knew I was in love with this movie.
