Viewing Notes

Was super excited that LoA (4 hour director’s cut!) was back in theaters even if only for a day for the newly restored digital transfer. Yeah, digital but to see this on the big screen is something I’ve been dreaming about since I first saw a few years ago. Sadly, the aspect ratio was trimmed to 1.85:1 from its wondrous 2.20:1. Still absolutely gorgeous to see this restoration but I’d love to see that OAR someday. I will say that seeing this film on the big screen definitely improved my overall appreciation of the magnitude of this film and what they accomplished, not to mention the tremendous acting. Even more amazing that this was Peter O’Toole’s first major film role. Just incredible performance.
