Viewing Notes

I heard good things about this one, but I wasn’t prepared for how much I would really enjoy it.

This feels like another great tale in the same vein as PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER, which I also loved, as a tale of growing up and young love. The acting is superb and I have a massive crush on Shailene Woodley. So much so that I have even considered watching that Secret Life of an American Teenager show she is on.

For as great, and funny, this movie is it also packs a punch. I’m not going to lie - it hurt. It hit pretty damn hard and I was kind of down. Can’t remember the last movie (at least in recent memory) where I got so frustrated with a character and how they act with, and towards, others. This could be because of my crush on Woodley, but I think of it more of my identification with both that type of character and the longing nostalgia of knowing how certain things turn out.

It’s damn beautiful and I will be watching again. Probably will also be seeking out the book soon.
