My third film of my first day of my first SXSW (and last film of the day). Was glad to get into this one too having heard some decent buzz. Did not realize it was by the same director of Smashed until after the screening!
During the entire viewing I was thinking, “this movie would really pair well with Smashed… and it even has Mary Elizabeth Winstead.” Doh. Not the typical coming-of-age film yet a very good one with some very good performances by all the principles.
In some ways I wish I didn’t connect so well w/the story and characters b/c it is a bit uncomfortable. Miles Teller seems to land these flawed roles but is so convincing for a young actor. My third favorite film of the seven films I saw I SXSW.
