Although made in England (and in English), this film was made for French television as part of a series of Henry James adaptations. It was co-produced by the BBC, who televised it in its original English version as a one-off drama presentation. For French TV, it was dubbed into French. A young American writer visits a famous (and controversial) author in the English countryside, and notices antagonism between the author and his wife over the upbringing of their young son.
