A low budget film that’s become a crime classic over the years. There’s a lot to admire. It’s technically impressive with great camerawork. The standout scene is a 3 1/2-minute single take of a bank robbery shot entirely from the back seat of the getaway car.
Although John Dall is not exactly charismatic, Peggy Cummins is a pretty decent femme fatale (note: the producers originally wanted Veronica Lake for the role, but her problems with alcohol and drugs made it too risky for them).

I really need to revisit this, it’s been too long. Cummins is great but I’d have loved to have seen Veronica Lake in this role.

Yes, Veronica Lake would have been perfect for this!
