A Chandler-esque private eye movie, but more stylish and lighthearted (albeit with some grisly violence thrown in).
In the pre-movie Q&A, Ethan Coen mentions THE LONG GOODBYE as an influence, and this has that Altman-like looseness and humor.
A wonderful cast of eccentric characters (a staple in a Coen movie) and the sunny Bakersfield locale make this a very enjoyable summer afternoon watch.
