Viewing Notes

via Netflix

Two scientists conduct research on sharks, hoping to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. When they decide to take a dangerous shortcut, they end up breeding larger sharks with larger brains—and near-human intelligence. Despite following a lot of the underwater base goes bad and critter wrecks it all tropes, and some really bad shark CG effects, I actually liked this one. It has some neat ideas and they kind of mix up the Poseidon Adventure with the underwater disaster and creature feature and the thought of hyper-intelligent sharks still makes my skin crawl. Fortunately, a lot of the shark effects shots are minimal and the more practical effects work a lot better.  It helps that I like just about every actor and actress in this too.
