Viewing Notes

Henry Frankenstein is a doctor who is trying to discover a way to make the dead walk. He succeeds and creates a monster that has to deal with living again. I have to admit, the ‘classic’ monster films aren’t really my thing. I like the stories, but my horror monsters really start in the 70s with Alien. My favorite Dracula is the one Francis Ford Coppala did in the 90s. There are some things I do like with this version of Frankenstein and I can see why it was such a big deal, but it’s not my favorite bit of classic cinema out there. It’s always good to see where the horror/sci-fi roots of cinema came from though, and this was a great way to close out the Sci-Horror week for Cinefessions Summer Screams Challenge this year.
