Two centuries after her execution, condemned witch Princess Asa returns from the dead to wreak vengeance on her killer’s family. While pretty tame compared to most modern horror films, Mario Bava manages to create a film in black and white that oozes atmosphere and has some great techniques that still work today. While it may seem tame, the ritual at the beginning of the film still had me cringing so that was definitely effective and I like the way they handled the whole doppleganger here. Much better than the Black Sabbath anthology film. Would definitely recommend this if you’re into classic horror flicks.
