Viewing Notes

An insatiable great white shark terrorizes the townspeople of Amity Island, The police chief, an oceanographer and a grizzled shark hunter seek to destroy the bloodthirsty beast. This was one of the films that helped define the summer blockbuster. A lot of the foundations here can be seen even in films releasing this summer. Steven Spielberg does a great job considering the hardships of filming and the fact their robotic shark barely functioned when they needed it to. Coupled with some fantastic acting from our three leads and John Williams iconic score, this one still holds up as an amazing mainstream horror film.
