Viewing Notes
Three years after the onset of the Clone Wars, the Jedi Knights have been leading the clone army into a galaxy-wide war against the Separatists. Only by embracing the Dark Side can Anakin Skywalker end the war and—he believes—save the woman he loves. The effects work in this one is probably the best out of the three prequel films. The script is a bit better, but other than Padme’s pregnancy, it’s hard to tell how long the film takes place and Anakin’s turn is still a bit hard to take as presented. A few trims here or there would have tightened it up. It’s also a bit sad that Padme’s scenes setting up what would become the leaders of the Rebel Alliance were cut as she’s one of the stronger actors in the film. It’s a satisfying conclusion to the prequel trilogy, and it feels far less glossy than the other two films. The fight sequences and the space battle have a lot to do with that and feel far more kinetic than the others which helps. The stilted dialogue really takes away from a number of scenes though.
