Viewing Notes

The best of the three? Still that goddamn stilted dialogue but the Skywalker/Kenobi scenes at the beginning and end flow really well both in terms of dialogue and action.

How quickly Anakin turns (and Padme’s pregnancy advances) still bugs me. I wish there would have been a better pace established for that and that Padme as a character wasn’t reduced to a mewling baby factory in this.

In general, there’s a lot going on in here but it plays out well enough and for the most part flows. Watching all three prequels back-to-back in the same day you really get a better sense of the story arc for Palpatine and all of his long con political maneuvering. Both here and in the full nine movie arc, Palpatine easily outclasses the Jedi, who for all their knowledge and power seem to have no fucking clue about what’s really going on. Their fervent disdain for politics really fucks them over. And if any of them had spent any time actually listening to Skywalker instead of being dismissive of him in the way parents often neglect their children… well I guess we wouldn’t have a nine movie series.
