Viewing Notes

I love Kurt Russell in this movie! He does such a great job of keeping an expressionless face most of the time and also showing the inner turmoil of his character, Todd, dealing with new emotions and feelings via minor facial tics and the barest of expressions.

There are a couple of small references to Bladerunner in this film too. Near the beginning there is a computer screen showing all the campaigns Todd has fought in and they include “Tanhauser Gate” and “The Shoulder of Orion”, both mentioned by Rutger Hauer’s replicant character, Roy Batty, in his “tears in rain” soliloquy, in Bladerunner.
