The second part of a self-created double feature I took my kids to at Denver Film Society (the first movie was We Are What We Are). Both my kids and I loved the hell out of this bizarre mess of a film! Not the weirdest, or most nonsensical, thing I’ve seen by far, but it still rates up there. I’d love to own this and screen it for unsuspecting friends.
Especially loved John Huston’s accompanying funk music every time he showed up. The girl who played the evil Katie was also awesome. I’m sure at the time she and her family thought this movie was going to be a ticket to fame and a future career in Hollywood, given she was starring alongside people like Glenn Ford, Shelly Winters, John Huston and Sam Peckinpah. Kinda doubt it turned out that way.
I would like to see a documentary or short talking about why and how this movie got made, because it’s beyond me how it ever saw the light of day.
