During a stopover in Germany in the middle of a carefree road trip through Europe, two American girls find themselves alone at night when their car breaks down in the woods. Searching for help at a nearby villa, they are wooed into the clutches of a deranged retired surgeon, who has a very disturbed vision.

I’d been holding off watching this for years now, mainly because I just didn’t feel it was going to be my kind of film. Turns out I was right. There’s just not much for me to like here. The whole plot seems pointless and scenes where you want tension to be built up and some bit of hope instilled, are never constructed in a way that makes that happen.
Instead, the film feels pointless, an exercise in cruelty that’s neither artistically interesting nor emotionally connecting.
