A rewatch with Gavin since we’d met the director at Stanley Film Festival and he hadn’t seen this film. This made the top of my list from SFF 2013 and I’m still in love with it.
After doing the Q&A with Bogliano at SFF and asking him about the differences between working on a film in the U.S. versus this Mexican production, I can see his answer (Mexican actors don’t really have an ego, they just take direction and do what’s asked of them) plainly on the screen, which is a good deal of what makes Devil so great.
