Viewing Notes

You can blindly throw a rock in any direction and hit a film that pays homage to John Carpenter, but you’d be hard-pressed to find one that manages to transcend that to become a great film on its own merits. It Follows is definitely in that transcendent category. It manages to maintain a constant, at times physically exhausting, tension throughout most of the film, bolstered by an ominous soundtrack (which is where a lot of the Carpenter comparison comes from).

This was the second best film of the fest for me (and held the top spot for most of it) and a movie I can’t wait to watch again with my sons.
