Viewing Notes

A pretty messy, non-cohesive film that seems to have suffered from a lack of clear direction and purpose. It felt pretty mediocre overall but it did have some fun moments (and a lot of wasted opportunities).

I really don’t understand the backlash against Harley Quinn’s relationship with the Joker. It’s obviously an abusive relationship but they’re co-dependent and feed off the self-destructiveness of each other. JUST LIKE THESE RELATIONSHIPS IN THE REAL WORLD.

Robie clearly steals all the scenes she’s in but all the female characters chew the most scenery with perhaps only Smith’s character holding his own. I wanted more out of Enchantress and Kitana whose characters were both intriguing and hold a lot of promise for deeper exploration. Captain Boomerang on the other hand, was disposable scenery during the bulk of the movie. It didn’t do anything to lessen my dislike for Jai Courtney as an actor either.

Overall, disappointed by the film since I love Ayer’s FURY so damn much. However, in my opinion not nearly as bad as so many critics have tweeted.
