This didn’t get a lot of favorable reviews when it came out, and I recall being disappointed as well, but my view has softened after this revisit. Still feels like lesser De Palma in that there aren’t many of his signature styles here (only two split diopter shots for instance, and both pretty low key).
There are some great shots though. One in particular of Scarlett Johansson and Josh Hartnett standing on the stairs leading into the house is so well framed and feels like it’s from a ‘40s era movie.
