Viewing Notes

The Alamo was the only theater in the area playing this, and even they were only playing it once a day at 10PM. I figured if we didn’t see it this weekend we wouldn’t get a chance to see it.

It has a very methodical pace and takes its time without feeling boring or bloated. Most of the characters were nicely fleshed out and complex; not one dimensional. The violence was less extreme than I was expecting but maybe I’m desensitized to it.

The only scene that didn’t work especially well for me was the one involving Don Johnson’s character. It felt flat, clunky and unrealistic.

So weird about the showtimes/availability. It’s only at *one* theater in all of Chicago, the Arclight, which is pretty much a no-go for me (pricey and inconvenient location). Even Cell Block 99 got a AMC release here. Ah well. Hopefully I see it soon enough.
