London, 1929. Frank Webber, a very busy Scotland Yard detective, seems to be more interested in his work than in Alice White, his girlfriend. Feeling herself ignored, Alice agrees to go out with an elegant and well-mannered artist who invites her to visit his fancy apartment.

Opening night movie for the Denver Silent Film Festival! Despite some logistical issues before they started seating, this was a lot of fun. This was the rarer silent version of the film, newly restored. I’d watched the talkie version two years ago so it was nice to be able to compare the two. I have to admit that I liked the talkie version a little more. The restoration was gorgeous though, and it was accompanied by a live orchestra which was incredible. I often forgot that they were playing live, that’s how well they sounded.
