Viewing Notes

MUBI has a couple of early Hitchcock films this month that are expiring soon. Haven’t seen either so viewing this one tonight. Thought this was a silent film… then learned it was silent then made into a talkie. Odd to watch the over exaggerated expressions and body language with dialogue.

Mostly enjoyed this. Anny Ondra is great and her dealing with the trauma is quite good. Didn’t care for an entire first act to get to the incident. Really soft ending for what it was building up.

The chase sequence they the library is excellent.
