Overview
2 million taels in gold has been stolen from a vault within the Forbidden City. The Empress wants the money returned within 10 days. Chief Constable Leng Tian-Ying is hired to bring back the gold robbers, dead or alive- and Leng’s earned a reputation of never bringing anyone back alive.

Viewing Notes
I’m a big fan of this film! While a Shaw Brothers film it falls outside the normal range of their martial arts movies in that it’s more cinematic in how it’s shot, features a flawed hero, and intelligent villains.
The ring of fire fight scene is pretty amazing and tense, as was the night ambush fight scene. I’d love to get this on Blu-ray.
