Way too cardboardish in both the story and the visual style for this to feel anything other than slight to me. This felt very made-for-tv in the ‘90s. While that worked in CULTURE SHOCK for very specific reasons that served that movie well, it falls flat here and feels like artifice for no good reason.
As a result I never really got interested in the story or characters.
