Viewing Notes

Cracked open the nice deluxe edition of this from 88 films. This film eschews any police corruption subplot and instead leans heavily into police are fascists but in that positive “so they can better fight crime with their great instincts about who’s guilty and deserves to be punished” way that most cop action movies STILL broadly embrace.

And really this movie is just a sort of series of crime vignettes loosely strung together by the “machine gun toting hunchback” character and the cop who always seems to run smack dab into the middle of these criminal acts.

Goofy, fun watch! Released by 88 Films under the title THE TOUGH ONES, but also known as BRUTAL JUSTICE in America, the “grindhouse” version of which is also in this set.
