Viewing Notes

The second in our triple feature. I thought I’d seen this before but nope! Largely shot at Larry Cohen’s own house because of course!

This one expands a bit more on the cause of the genetic mutations while still remaining pretty opaque on the actual causes, which fits with Cohen’s typically vague root causes in his movie plots. It does provide a little more room for shady government/big pharma conspiracies while never really completely delivering on that front.

Great to see John Ryan reprise his role as Frank from the first movie, but here he’s one of the leaders of an underground movement to rescue more mutant babies from the government killing squads.

I was really hoping that would be explored more but after a lengthy amount of time spent on the rescue of one couple’s baby, which has echoes of a WWII behind-enemy-lines spy thriller, things get screwy and muddled.

Great to finally see this though!
