Viewing Notes

It’s been a minute since I’ve seen this so it was great to finally revisit it. Classic Walter Hill with a great, isolated location that feels out of time and place and the perfect setting for a retelling of YOJIMBO. It has more in common with A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS though, as it deftly blends the gangster and western genres together with definite nods to Woo’s heroic bloodshed epics as well.

The action is top notch even if there’s nothing particularly new about the story and it’s a lot of fun to watch Willis and a great group of character actors ply their trade.

This really deserves a nice 4K release.
