Overview

Set during Japan’s Shogun era, this film looks at life in a samurai compound where young warriors are trained in swordfighting. A number of interpersonal conflicts are brewing in the training room, all centering around a handsome young samurai named Sozaburo Kano. The school’s stern master can choose to intervene, or to let Kano decide his own path.

Viewing Notes

Such a strange but beautifully shot film, with a great cast. This is one of a number of films, performances and documentaries Cathode played last night and tonight in tribute to the passing of Ryuchi Sakamoto who did the score for this.

Didn’t realize Sakamoto did the score for this. Gonna dig out my DVD and give it a spin. Don’t think I ever watched it.
