Viewing Notes
This early ‘90s Japanese crime/action movie wears its influences on its sleeves. Down one sleeve is spaghetti westerns and down the other is Hong Kong heroic bloodshed. This is completely ridiculous and highly entertaining film is set and shot in the Philippines. It makes up in spirit and commitment what it lacks in budget and doesn’t spare the squibs. It’s great to see a young Riki Takeuchi in the lead role.
This is also known as BLOWBACK 2 and appears to be a sequel to BLOWBACK: MIDNIGHT GANGSTERS which was released the year before. This really deserves a solid boutique release along with its spiritual twin, SCORE, made four years later by the same director. I watched a pan and scan dubbed stream of this via nefarious means but would love to own this on Blu-ray.
