The first feature film of my Scream, Secret Cinema, Scream! horror movie marathon with Jay, and one we’ve both seen before, but ages ago. Some day I hope this gets a features loaded, high-definition release on Blu-ray or 4K. It’s been in limbo forever, presumably due to rights issues surrounding the score. I think the only physical media releases of this are on VHS and LaserDisc.
The version I procured for this is a bootleg Blu-ray that came from a high-definition broadcast on cable and looked pretty good; easily the best quality viewing I’ve ever had of this film.
The film works well enough in its released version but you definitely get the feeling it was cut down and crucial stuff left out. I’ve love to see the original 3-hour director’s cut of this. Maybe some day.
Regardless, great start to the marathon!
