Moving up a year to 1972, my second birthday film is this gritty, dirty Western-tinged neo-noir that was written by Walter hill from a story by Jim Thompson, directed by Sam Peckinpah and starring Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw. What an incredible pedigree!
My only nit for this is that it goes with a happy ending, which is completely against the grain of anything Thompson ever wrote and seems like something Peckinpah may have been forced to do.
