Overview
Withdrawn and sensitive teenager Carrie White faces bullying from classmates and abuse from her fanatically pious mother. When she begins to suspect that she has supernatural powers, things take a dark and violent turn.

Viewing Notes
Hugely influenced by European cinema, this is a master work from De Palma and one I’ve been meaning to revisit for a long time. So many split diopter shots in this, though they’re not as obvious here as in some of his other work.
Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie give outstanding performances.
