A beautifully shot horror that’s very British in that it relies heavily on story and drama rather than anything shocking happening. Based on a story by Alexander Pushkin. The set design and costumes are outstanding, as is the lighting and cinematography.
My only problem with this disc from Kino Lorber is that the sound mix is incredibly low. I had to crank the volume up well beyond normal levels in the home theater in order to understand the dialogue.
