Viewing Notes

Excellent acting by all three leads, but an especially great, understated performance by Viggo Mortensen as Sigmund Freud, help carry this rather cerebral and staid piece of filmmaking from David Cronenberg. While I wouldn’t call the subject matter a departure for Cronenberg, it doesn’t sit easily within the greater body of his work either.
