Twenty second film of my FF2013 and fourth of Day 5. Also probably my most anticipated film being a Sono flick (will never forget viewing Cold Fish at my first FF). Skipped the first screening at midnight on Day One b/c I wanted to see this in the best condition. Damn, what an exquisite ride. Clear why this was picked up by Drafthouse Films.
It’s a celebration of film and making movies. Also an indictment of the current state of film esp. in Japan where indie filmmakers are getting squeezed out. Really entertaining but all said I didn’t love it as much as I expected I would. Still a great film and my 6th favorite overall at the festival. Plus Tak Sakaguchi!!
