Such an odd movie that feels more like an early 80s flick. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was filmed well before its 1993 release year because everything about this screams 80s including the title and credits. Even Cameron Mitchell looks great and he died in 1994.
The plot is also a throwback with a weird mutant cannibal living in a mine protected by a woman. When the escaped convicts with their kidnapped women fall into the mine, the weird man takes them out in a bizarre fashion. Not great but the way the movie is compiled makes it interesting.
Zack Carlson has a nice write-up at BAD about this film: http://badassdigest.com/2011/12/29/video-hate-squad-trapped-alive/
Note: this movie was updated to its correct year of origin 1988, which makes a lot more sense.
