This movie stressed me the fuck out. Damn it’s so intense. And incredibly infuriating. The title is truly misleading but understandable why Toho went with it for foreign release. Such an amazing film with a great cast all around. Shot beautifully in B&W with some terrific angles to really capture and emphasis the emotions and drama.
So odd that director Kobayashi said that Mifune was distracted at the time running his production company that he wasn’t entirely focused on his acting. I guess this shows what an incredible actor he really was since you’d never notice. Excellent film but not one I’d want to revisit often. So much stress and anger.
