The third act drags down the movie but I really enjoy the setup in the first two acts which is slower paced and gives the characters some breathing room. The finale is crazy and while not terrible all the whiplash fighting and slaying makes me sleepy. Maybe because it’s difficult to focus on any one thing.
All that said I would watch another one of these Oneechanbara flicks in a heartbeat. They put a capable Gravure idol in the lead this time in Yuu Tejima; she’s stunning and doesn’t have act much. Rika Kawamura is also sweet as Reiko but isn’t given enough to do here. I also love that everyone is taking it so seriously. No tongue in cheek or humor which is nice for a video game adaptation. Yeah, it’s dopey but I dig this dopey.
