Overview

One night per year, the government sanctions a 12-hour period in which citizens can commit any crime they wish—including murder—without fear of punishment or imprisonment. Leo, a sergeant who lost his son, plans a vigilante mission of revenge during the mayhem. However, instead of a death-dealing avenger, he becomes the unexpected protector of four innocent strangers who desperately need his help if they are to survive the night.

Viewing Notes

Really this should be called THE PUNISHER: PURGE NIGHT. Frank Grillo is great. I enjoyed most of the action beats. Not fond of the story or the concept of the purge. So many questions on how it’s managed. Also hard to buy some of the wackiness on the whereabouts of different groups of attackers and those on the run from said attackers. Really requires a suspension of belief that I’m not willing to give it. I also don’t believe *anyone* would sleep during that entire time.

Because of Grillo and those action beats I give a favorable rating. Just wish the concept was more thought out.
