Overview

One night per year, the government sanctions a 12-hour period in which citizens can commit any crime they wish—including murder—without fear of punishment or imprisonment. Leo, a sergeant who lost his son, plans a vigilante mission of revenge during the mayhem. However, instead of a death-dealing avenger, he becomes the unexpected protector of four innocent strangers who desperately need his help if they are to survive the night.

Viewing Notes

Revisiting before I see ELECTION YEAR. I like the direction they went in this movie from the initial film. But I still stand by title of “THE PUNISHER: ANARCHY” bc Frank Grillo is basically Frank Castle in this movie.

Can’t say I like it anymore than I did on the first viewing in the theater but it holds up and sadly feels even more topical today. Curious how the new installment expands on this story / concept, of which I’m not entirely on board with given the high suspension of belief that The Purge is all that is required to solve unemployment and poverty, etc. Esp. in this movie.
